It all really began right HERE… The Motor City…
birthplace of the auto industry...the arsenal of democracy…
the place that put this country into motion…
Without HERE…. the incredible, well documented things that have been happening
in California since the second world war wouldn’t be possible…
Without HERE…. there wouldn’t be bangers and flathead V8’s to hop up...
there wouldn’t be Olds Rockets, Caddys, and Nailheads… there wouldn’t be Hemis….
Others may get the credit …but it all really began right HERE.
The Invitational at Five Seven Delta is happening HERE.
Hot rodding is coming HOME.
The Invitational is an exhibition, intended to honor the early days of hot rodding and drag racing. Participants and attendees will capture the feel of the 1950 Santa Ana drags, or closer to home, at Capital City Airport in Lansing
and Amrhein Rd in Livonia, just a couple years later.
The event will be held at Ray Community Airport, aeronautical ID code 57D, in northern Macomb County. Located just a few miles from the famous Motor City Dragway ruins, this “outlaw” airfield is a perfect venue for vintage racing. Runway 28 will have an eighth-mile course marked off and when the flag drops ’54 and prior machines will blast down the strip in pairs. The airport will be closed to air traffic for the duration of the event.
Due to the nature of this venue, and in an effort to maximize the experience for all involved, this will be a limited attendance event with invited pre-registered participants and their pre-registered guests/crew only.
